Weaving the powerful kupu of acclaimed author Tina Makereti and Riki Pirihi’s visionary Rangatuone approach to taonga puoro composition, Ā mua brings a story of Māori futurism to life.

Unfolding through four movements, inspired by the Māori creation story, this performance journeys from the elemental to the contemporary – grounded in mātauranga Māori. Taking Māori futurism,whakapapa and taiao as its starting points, Ā mua spirals and forms connections across time.
