Celebrated choreographer and director Malia Johnston brings together seven incredible independent dance artists from across Aotearoa and Australia for the immersive experience Tōrua. Walking shoes required!
From recent seasons at CubaDupa and HOTA Queensland (AU), follow inspirational dance luminaries; Kia Jewell, Brydie Coquhoun, Jemima Smith, Sefa Tunupopo, Andre Quinlan-Busby, Jag Popham and Deija Vukona through the alleyways and streets of Whakatū where they will present their movement responses to the city’s terrain.
Music composition by Eden Mulholland and Anna Edgington.
This performance is performed outside, please bring suitable footwear and clothing.
You will be allocated a wireless headset through which you will hear the music. These are restricted so it’s advisable to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the performance start time to pick up a headset and receive instructions on how to operate the levels. We ask that you return headsets to available crew after the performance.
We hope you can encourage any whānau members who you think would enjoy the performance to come along to the next available session!
