Be transported from the Boat Shed Cafe to the Greek island of Naxos in this special opportunity to savour some of the dishes featured in what has been described as the ‘most delicious of novels’, The Secrets of the Little Greek Taverna, featuring Whakatū Nelson’s very own bestselling author and restauranteur Erin Palmisano. Chaired by Nicola Galloway.
Following its release in February – as Moa Press’s first fiction title to be released in 2024 – The Secrets of the Little Greek Taverna cemented its place in the NZ Fiction Bestseller List. It is a story about finding friendship and love in the most unexpected of places, with a dash of magic thrown in. It is the first in a two-book deal for the debut author, who has merged her passions for food, wine and travel into a delightful tale that transports you to the fictional village of Potamia on the Greek island of Naxos.
In this special event, you will get the chance to enjoy shared food platters of food and sample local beverages, while hearing from the author, in conversation with fellow foodie Nicola Galloway, in between courses.
All books will be on sale through our festival bookstore PaperPlus Nelson, both through their shop and at their stall at our Pukapuka Talks events. Most authors will be available for book signings after their sessions. You can also buy pukapuka online – please select the Nelson store to collect in person.
Erin Palmisano is a dual NZ and US citizen. She grew up reading books and has always wanted to write stories. Erin and her chef partner live in Whakatū Nelson, where they own and operate three restaurants.
Nicola Galloway is an award-winning food writer and author of five cookbooks, including her most recent, The Homemade Table. She lives in Nelson with her family on a suburban quarter acre with over 20 fruit and nut trees, vegetable gardens and free-range chooks. It is Nicola’s abundant garden that provides inspiration for the recipes she shares.
